Bonnet Bay is a small suburb of quiet cul-de-sacs running down toward the Woronora River, and its fencing work reflects that shape. Blocks slope toward the water on many streets, boundaries weave around established gardens, and fences are often doing a quiet structural job on the low side of the yard as well as marking the line. The fencing contractors we work with quote plenty of stepped and raked fencing here, along with replacements for the original fences that went up when the suburb was developed in the 70s.
Because Bonnet Bay is leafy and close to the river, shaded boundaries stay damp and are hard on timber, while the bush edges bring leaf litter and the occasional dropped branch.
Common fence jobs in Bonnet Bay
- Stepped and raked fencing on sloping riverside blocks
- Replacing original 1970s paling fences
- Fences paired with retaining walls on split-level yards
- Pool fencing and garden fencing on established blocks
What fencing costs in Bonnet Bay
Guide pricing only: Colorbond and timber paling typically run from around $80 to $190 per metre installed, with Sydney jobs often toward the top of that range. Sloped ground and tight cul-de-sac access add labour on some blocks. Retaining work is priced separately. See the fencing cost guide before booking a site quote.
On a shared boundary, both owners generally contribute to a sufficient dividing fence under NSW law, and half-shares are the usual arrangement between Bonnet Bay neighbours. Agree it in writing before work starts. General information, not legal advice.
Frequently asked questions
My yard is split-level. Does the fence need a retaining wall?
If the boundary holds back soil, yes, and the wall should be sorted before or with the fence. Walls are priced and treated separately from dividing fences, so clarify who pays for what early. In NSW, retaining walls over 600mm generally need council approval and engineering, so check before building.
Timber or Colorbond for a shaded Bonnet Bay boundary?
Damp shade shortens timber's life. Treated pine still performs reasonably, but Colorbond removes rot from the equation on a south-facing or tree-covered line.
Will fencers work on cul-de-sac blocks with no side access?
Yes, it is routine. Materials get carried through or over, which adds some labour time. Mention access when you request a quote.
